How to raise a concern about anything we publish, and what we do with it.
Send a complaint through our contact form, choosing Other as the topic. Tell us which page the complaint concerns, what the concern is, and what outcome you are asking for. Complaints from readers, shipyards, brokers, crew, and the trade receive the same attention.
We read every complaint and check it against the published page and the sources behind it. Where a complaint identifies a factual error, the article is corrected promptly, and a dated correction note is added at the foot of the article describing what changed, as set out in our corrections policy. Minor typographical slips are fixed without a note.
A complaint fixes the record; it does not renegotiate an article's conclusions. If new information materially changes a story, we update the article and note the update with its date. If a story's foundations prove unsound, we retract it with an explanation rather than quietly editing it away.
Complaints about copyright are handled under our DMCA policy, which sets out what a takedown notice must include, how we respond, and how to send a counter-notice.
